ConnecT1D™ Family Camp 2014 – October 10-12, 2014

ConnecT1D is a group for kids, teens, families and adults with T1D in Seattle, WA. They have a large following and reach thousands of people. In October, they will be hosting their annual Family Camp in Seattle. From their website:

The third annual ConnecT1D Family Camp will be held October 10-12, 2014 at Warm Beach Camp in Stanwood, Washington, about 50 miles north of Seattle. ConnecT1D Family Camp is a weekend-long event that aims to help newly diagnosed families find their way and returning families reconnect with others in their community. There are talks, panels and group discussions about growing up with Type 1 Diabetes and how families can thrive. Popular topics include: T1D at school, putting together a care team, surviving the teen years and dealing with the psycho/social aspects of T1D. Many families leave reinvigorated, armed with practical and emotional tools for managing T1D as part of their lives. For kids under age 13, the agenda is simple: have FUN and make FRIENDS who are also living with T1D (siblings and friends without T1D are also welcome). Children are grouped by age and led in games and activities by counselors knowledgeable about T1D, many of whom have Type 1 themselves and act as role models. Teens age 13 and up are eligible to be counselors and often grow from taking a leadership role with younger children. Families of all kinds are welcome, and we hope to see you there!
